Lunch is a Health Issue

Via TED

Although we do not have a lunch program in schools in Canada, we have much to learn from this video.  Ann Cooper talks about how we should think of food as a health issue.  She argues that we should spend more money and direct more attention to the health of our children in schools.

  1. Great video! It's obvious she's passionate. She's a good speaker (reminded me of Hell's Kitchen) and her speech was quite balanced. She definitely added fear in saying that in the next decade 45% of all kids will be insulin dependent, and that a sugar-rich diet is like a diet of crack.... it reminded me of the other video about junk food and drugs. I liked how she asked, 'what's wrong with teaching kids that chicken looks like chicken?' when she talked about heart and animal shaped chicken nuggets. Food is definitely apart of health!!

  2. I agree that she's a little alarmist but her passion shines through. We need more people like her advocating for the health of children in schools!
