Recently, we held a fundraiser called the "Garden Drive" to raise funds to plant Central's new community garden! Games, crafts and healthy snacks were provided for students while adults talked over coffee and refreshments. We'll be holding a "Planting Day" on Wednesday, so more pictures to come! View more photos from the "Garden Drive" (including photos of the raised beds) after the jump...

After a week of interviews with Central students, the results are in! A total of eleven students and four parents were interviewed. The results from these interviews will be used to construct a report for CommunityLINK funding for after school programs (ASPs).

Here's the shocker: can you believe that seven of eleven children said that they get more exercise in ASPs than at home? Seven of eleven children also reported that they made friends in ASPs. Some students said that they meet these friends outside of school. These social networks a essential for healthy child development. Most importantly, all students interviewed agreed that they "had lots of fun" in Central's after school programs.
